The Thames Stamp Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, Sept. through June, at 7:30 P.M. at the Clark Lane Jr. High School, Waterford, CT. All area philatelists are invited. March Recap
Mar. 9 Open meeting with thirteen members present. Thamespex’11 will be held on 16 Oct. Show location yet to be determined but Clark Lane Middle School is our first preference. Thamespex’10 covers are still available. Ten additional covers have been sold since December. Alan Bentz presented an interesting and informative slide show by Phil Stager entitled, “Airships of the United States.” Brian Baldwin proposed the Thamespex’11 theme be the 50th-anniversary of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Door prizes and refreshments by Bill McMurray concluded the evening.
Mar. 23 Regular meeting was held at the Clark Lane Middle School Library with ten members present. Obie will make arrangements to remove the Thamespex hardware from the old gym. Brian Baldwin presented several Enterprise cachets and presented a short discussion on various aircraft that served on the carrier. Larry Walker will schedule the Waterford Public Library for our summer meetings. Door prizes and refreshments by John Johnson concluded the evening.
April Meetings
Apr. 13 Open meeting will be held at the Clark Lane Middle School. Agnes will be accepting 2011 dues payments starting at this meeting. Agnes Christie will bring the goodies.
Apr. 27 Regular meeting will be held at the Clark Lane Middle School. Alan Bentz will present a talk by Ken Sanford entitled, “Collecting Air Crash Covers.” If time permits, we will have a short auction. Larry Walker will bring the goodies. be held at the Clark Lane Middle School. I will show an APS slide program entitled, “Designing the U.S. State Birds and Flowers Issue of 1982.” If time permits, we will have a short auction. Harold Lindner will bring the goodies.

It is time to renew your membership in the club. Dues are $10/yr. Please mail $10 to Agnes Christie, 158 Pond Rd., N. Franklin, CT 06254, or give it to her at either of the Apr. meetings. If you receive your newsletter by snail mail, your address will be circled in red, indicating that your dues are due. If you receive your newsletter via email, I will remind you separately that your dues are due. We still have a few Thamespex’10 covers left so be sure to contact Obie or me to set one aside. Don’t forget to take a look at the stamp-circuit books. They are full of all sorts of bargains. Bring your want list to the next meeting; you never know what you might find.
